The Real Third Secret of Fatima
Sister Lucia, the young child to whom Mother Mary appeared in Fatima, was given three secrets in 1941.
She revealed the first two secrets at the request of the local bishop at the time, but the third secret, she hesitated to reveal.
She was unsure whether God willed it or not, so she chose not to disclose it.
However, in 1943, Sister Lucia fell very ill, and the bishop ordered her to put the secret into writing.

Lucia obeyed and wrote it down, sealing it in an envelope not to be opened until 1960, when it would be clearer.
But when 1960 finally arrived, the Vatican issued a press release stating that it was most probable the secret would remain under absolute seal forever.
It wasn’t until June 26th, 2000, 40 years after the date it was meant to be released, that the Vatican published the third secret—a vision of the Holy Father and other religious walking up a steep mountain, pᴀssing through a city of ruins, and being sH๏τ by a group of soldiers.
Yet, critics claim that the text released by the Vatican is not the real third secret or at least not the full secret.
Their reasons are based on the following.

Discrepancies and Concerns: What the Vatican Didn’t Reveal
First, Sister Lucia wrote the third secret on one sheet of paper, yet the text released by the Vatican in 2000 was handwritten on four sheets of paper.
Father Wen Alonzo, the official Fatima archivist for 16 years, reports in his book that Lucia told him she wrote the secret on one sheet of paper.
Another reason for skepticism lies in the format of the secret.
It was reportedly written as a signed letter to the Bishop of Leiria, yet the text released by the Vatican was not in the form of a letter.
If what was released by the Vatican wasn’t the real third secret of Fatima, then what is the real third secret?

The True Essence of the Secret: Apostasy in the Church
Many closely ᴀssociated with Fatima and the Vatican have spoken on what the real essence of the last secret is.
Cardinal Cappi, who read the third secret and was the personal papal theologian to Popes John XXIII, Paul VI, and John Paul II, said that in the third secret, it is foretold, among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top.
Bishop Amarel, the Bishop of Leiria Fatima, made a declaration stating that the secret of Fatima speaks neither of atomic bombs nor nuclear warheads nor parishing missiles.
Its contents concern only our faith, the Catholic faith.
To identify the secret with catastrophic announcements or a nuclear holocaust is to deform the meaning of the message.
Revelation of Apostasy and the Church’s Decline
Reverend Dr.
Gamore Adapur, who attended the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council between 1962 and 1965, was shown a copy of the third secret missing from the Vatican’s explanation.
He said it was a portion of the secret that predicted the fall of the modern Catholic Church.
Nevertheless, Father Depor said the main impetus of the original secret he viewed over 35 years ago was a prediction by the Holy Virgin that there would be an unbelievable total doctrinal and moral spiritual collapse of the Catholic Church—something Vatican officials are not going to admit.

John XXIII’s Role in Vatican II: A Shift in the Church
Cardinal Sylvio ODI, Secretary of Archbishop Angelo Giapi Ronali, later Pope John XXIII, explained his own theory concerning the contents of the third secret of Fatima.
He said the most important event in 1960 that might have been seen in connection with the secret of Fatima was the launching of the Preparatory phase of the Second Vatican Council.
He added that he wouldn’t be surprised if the secret had something to do with the convocation of Vatican II.
John XXIII had convened the council with the precise intention of directing the forces of the church toward the solution of the problems that concern all of humanity, beginning from within.
However, the sad reality is that many unfortunate events took place in conjunction with the council.
John XXIII himself expressed deep anguish in 1968 against the autodissolution occurring in the church: “Satan’s smoke has made its way into the temple of God through some crack.”
The Third Secret: A Warning for the Church’s Future
Cardinal ODI emphasized that the third secret was not about a supposed conversion of Russia, but rather concerns the revolution within the Catholic Church.
The Blessed Virgin was alerting us against the apostasy in the Church.
Many innovations were born against Vatican II, and they appeared to consтιтute a true internal revolution.
Looking back, the Vatican II Council—the major reformation of the Catholic Church—seems to have triggered a spiritual crisis.
The secret might predict the decline of the church from within as it struggled with modernization, changing theological directions, and the waning influence of Catholic doctrines.
Conclusion: A Long-Awaited Revelation
The third secret of Fatima holds a deep mystery, and many believe it speaks to a coming crisis within the Catholic Church—an internal spiritual collapse tied to the modern world.
With the Second Vatican Council as a significant turning point, many believe that the Vatican’s reluctance to fully reveal the third secret has kept crucial warnings hidden for generations.
What remains clear is that the third secret was not only about the future of the Catholic Church but also about a spiritual transformation, signaling profound change.
Whether the Church will heed this warning or continue on its current path is a question only time will answer.
The real third secret may finally be coming to light, and it could have the power to reshape faith, doctrine, and history for believers worldwide.
