The Mega Story of Pastor Chris: The Rise of a Giant of Faith
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome stands today as one of the most recognizable and influential Christian leaders of the modern era.
His name resonates not only across Nigeria but throughout Africa and far beyond its borders.
Respected by political figures, admired by global icons, and followed by millions, his journey did not begin with fame or fortune—it began with a calling.

Born on December 7, 1963, in Edo State, Nigeria, Christian Oyakhilome grew up in a deeply spiritual household.
His father was an elder in the ᴀssemblies of God Church, yet his personal decision to follow Christ came early and decisively.
At just nine years old, he consciously gave his life to Jesus, responding to what he later described as a divine pull on his heart.
That moment quietly set the foundation for a destiny that would impact generations.
After completing his secondary education at Edo College, Chris took an unconventional path.

Instead of rushing into university, he volunteered at a Christian bookstore affiliated with Faith Miracle Center, serving under Archbishop Benson Idahosa.
This season of service shaped his spiritual discipline and deepened his hunger for God.
Eventually, he enrolled at Bendel State University—now Ambrose Alli University—to study architecture.
While his classmates designed physical structures, God was shaping something far greater within him.
In 1981, a defining encounter occurred on campus.

Chris heard the voice of the Lord clearly instructing him: “Take my divine presence to the peoples and nations of the world.”
From that moment, his life took a permanent turn.
Though architecture was his academic pursuit, soul-winning became his obsession.
As a student, he founded a fellowship known as Youth for Christ, which quickly evolved into a powerful spiritual movement.
Known then simply as “Brother Chris,” he was marked by intense prayer, spiritual depth, and a burning pᴀssion for revival.

Stories spread of him retreating into forests to pray for hours, so consumed in spiritual travail that on one occasion, a hunter nearly mistook his prayers for the cry of a wild animal.
Miracles soon followed—healings, deliverances, and supernatural manifestations became common on campus.
One moment stood out vividly: during a teaching session, he called out those deaf in one ear.
As he prayed, students fell under the power of God and rose with perfect hearing.
From that day, it was clear—this was no longer just a student leader, but a man undeniably sent by God.

After graduation, the movement did not fade.
Instead, it expanded.
Pastor Chris used the proceeds from a small business he started not for personal comfort, but to fund village crusades across Bendel State.
Revival fires spread from campuses to rural communities.
In 1987, he formally launched the church arm of the ministry—Christ Embᴀssy.

Though the ministry flourished in Edo State, God instructed him to move to Lagos, Nigeria’s bustling commercial hub.
Despite initial hesitation, he obeyed.
That single act of obedience unlocked unprecedented growth.
Starting again with a small group but a mᴀssive vision, Christ Embᴀssy quickly gained attention for its bold teachings on faith, healing, and prosperity.
In 1991, Pastor Chris married Anita, who played a vital role in the ministry’s early expansion through teaching, mentoring, and leadership.

Together, they laid foundations that would support a global ministry.
Recognizing the power of media early, Pastor Chris embraced television, publishing, and later digital platforms.
In 1995, he released Recreating Your World, followed in 2001 by Rhapsody of Realities, a daily devotional that would eventually reach millions across every continent.
By 2003, he pioneered Africa’s first 24-hour Christian television network, propelling the message of Christ to a global audience.
Challenges came swiftly.

In 2004, Nigerian authorities banned miracle-based programs from local television.
Yet rather than slowing the movement, the opposition pushed it further onto the global stage.
Through satellite networks and international outreach, the ministry expanded beyond limitations imposed by men.
Through initiatives like ReachOut World, billions of copies of Rhapsody of Realities have been distributed freely, touching prisons, schools, hospitals, and homes worldwide.
In music, Pastor Chris launched LoveWorld Records and later the LoveWorld International Music and Arts Awards (LIMA), reshaping gospel music globally.

Not without controversy, Pastor Chris has often spoken boldly against global systems he believes threaten faith and freedom.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, his global prayer initiative reached an estimated three billion online engagements, while also drawing criticism and scrutiny.
Yet, he remained unwavering in his convictions.
Today, under his leadership, LoveWorld has planted over 3,500 churches in more than 100 nations.
What began as a small campus fellowship has become a world-shaking movement.
And remarkably, the story is still unfolding.
